SHIKAKAI POWDER is a natural powder made from dried and finely ground fruits of Soap Acacia, also known as Shikakai. In India, this plant is traditionally used in Ayurvedic hair care for the gentle cleansing of the hair and scalp.

Shikakai fruits contain natural botanical saponins which form a mild cleansing base when mixed with water. It helps remove impurities, excess sebum and residues of styling products without producing the abundant foam associated with conventional shampoos containing sulphate surfactants.

After use, the hair feels softer and smoother, becomes easier to comb and gains natural shine and a well-cared-for appearance. Shikakai acts as a natural cleansing and conditioning agent, helps reduce tangling and supports a comfortable scalp condition.

Gentle botanical cleansing

Shikakai powder is suitable for the regular care of normal and oily hair. It can also be used on hair coloured with Henna, Indigo and other botanical colourants, as it provides gentle cleansing without the intensive action of conventional shampoos.

Shikakai produces significantly less foam than traditional shampoo. A small amount of foam does not indicate insufficient cleansing: natural saponins work gently and help remove impurities from the hair and scalp.

For dry, porous or damaged hair, it is recommended to reduce the application time and combine Shikakai with Amla, Aloe Vera or other softening botanical powders.

Directions for use

Place the required amount of powder in a clean container. Gradually add warm water and mix thoroughly until a smooth, medium-thick paste is obtained. The required amount of mixture depends on the length and thickness of the hair.

Wet the hair and scalp. Apply the prepared paste to the scalp, massage gently and distribute throughout the length of the hair. Leave on for 3–5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with plenty of warm water. If well tolerated, the application time can gradually be increased to 10 minutes.

Do not expect abundant foam. If necessary, the procedure may be repeated or the powder may be combined with other botanical ingredients.

Important information for light and bleached hair

Shikakai powder has a natural light brown colour and may temporarily alter the shade of very light, grey, bleached or porous hair. Before first use, always carry out a strand test on a small, inconspicuous section of hair by applying the prepared mixture for 10 minutes.

After chemical bleaching, perming or colouring, it is recommended to wait at least four weeks and always perform a strand test. The final result depends on the original hair colour, porosity and condition, as well as the application time.

Precautions

For external use only. Do not consume. Perform a sensitivity test before first use. Do not apply to an irritated, inflamed or damaged scalp. Avoid contact of the powder or prepared mixture with the eyes: natural saponins may cause severe irritation. In case of contact with the eyes, rinse immediately and thoroughly with plenty of clean water. Do not inhale the powder. If pronounced burning, itching, redness or any other adverse reaction occurs, rinse the product off immediately and discontinue use.

Store tightly closed in a dry, dark place at room temperature and out of reach of children. Protect from moisture and direct sunlight.
