Lutein and zeaxanthin are the main pigments of the retina, very important for the eyes. They mostly accumulate in the retina of the eye. Zeaxanthin is located in the lens and in the center of the retina - the macula. It selectively absorbs the energy of the blue light and thereby protects the retina from the harmful effects of the light. Zeaxanthin also has antioxidant properties. It protects the lens and retina of the eye from damage by free radicals, which cause age-related macular degeneration, retinopathy and the development of cataracts. Clinical studies have confirmed that lutein deficiency causes not only pathological changes in the tissues of the eye, but also irreversible vision loss.

Lutein is not synthesized in the body, it enters the body with food (fruits and vegetables).

Vitamin A helps to maintain normal vision.
